This week DVWGE is our guest on the remixmonsta blog. We mainly sat down for an interview on the purpose of his latest electronic remix of Bendy and the Ink Machine, but we hit more generic questions along the way about his career.
When did you start making music? What was your main motivation?
I started making electronic music in 2011. I've been playing music since I was in middle school and was in various bands throughout high school from metal bands to concert and jazz bands. I started going to raves in 2011 and fell in love with the electro house/complextro style that was popular at the time and need to learn how to make it better.
What software and tools are you using to create your songs?
I use FL Studio as my DAW of choice and as a producer I have too many tools that are just extremely useful. Sylenth 1 is my VSTi of choice for Leads and Plucks. For Basses I really like NI Massive. NI Massive was the first VSTi I was exposed to and it really holds a special place with me. WA productions are my go to for any one shot needs. They really have top notch samples that fit any genre. As for effects, I truly enjoy the capabilities FL Studio has to offer so I would have to say my favorite processing tools are the Parametric EQ2 and the Fruity Reverb.
Which part do you enjoy the most during the creation process?
I really enjoy bringing everything to life. I start with a simple concept like a drum groove or maybe a piano melody and then put every piece together based on the groove or melody. I'm into huge melodies like Hardstyle and Trance so really sitting back and listening to the final product is enjoyable and so rewarding.
Is there something currently in the making? Can you tell us more about it?
Actually I have two projects I'm currently working on. The first project is called the 'Remix a Week Project'. Basically I choose one random follower and they choose a song of any genre and I have to remix that song. All you have to do to like the post on my page, share the post to your page, and comment the song you want remixed in the comment section. I drop a new remix every Monday at 10am pst and I announce a new remix every Monday night at 8pm pst.
My second project is my first official studio album. The Album is called 'Friends' and this project is very special to me because I wanted to make an album showcasing some of the most talented people I've met in the music industry. This album has been a year in the making and it will feature 10 collaborations with some of my favorite artists in the world as well as a few singles too. I can't give many more details than that but look for the album mid-late July on all major platforms.
What are your future plans, in let's say 3-5 years ahead?
I'm currently experimenting with video game and movie scores and my goal is to have something published in a movie or game within the next three to five years. These scores are vastly different from my electronic music, but I've been fusing the two into a cinematic style of electronic music. This is something I have heavily focused on in my album so you'll have to wait to see what this new style sounds like.
